Leon Barnes Powers: Loris

1959 – 2024

     Leon “Bee” Barnes Powers of Loris passed away on Oct. 27 at McLeod Seacoast hospital. He was 65.

     Born Oct. 14, 1959 in Marion, he was the son of the late Henry Powers and the late Martha Caulder Powers.

     Mr. Powers worked as a painter and in construction and was of the Baptist faith. In his personal life he loved to go camping, make people laugh, and he played in a band for many years.

     Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Nancy E. Powers; a son, Jeff Powers; daughters April Powers and Jennifer Hoyle (Josh); four grandchildren, Kayla Miller (Hayden), Collin Hoyle, Jeffrey Devin Powers, and Alishia Kaye Powers (Ryan Inman); four great-grandchildren, and a brother, Ervin Henry Powers.

     Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel. Committal services followed at Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Marion
