Rev. Edwin L Strickland: Loris

1939 – 2024

     Rev. Edwin L Strickland of Loris passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 6, with his wife by his side. He was 85.

     He was born July 31, 1939 in Columbus County to the late Stanford Strickland and the late Josie O. Strickland.

     Rev. Strickland was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend to many. He pastored churches in Horry County. He retired from Horry County Public Works Department.

     Survivors include his cherished wife, Barbara of 60 years; his son, Matthew Edwin; a sister, Johnsie Strickland; his beloved dog, Nafta; and two nephews, Michael Rose and Reggie Rose.

     Mr. Strickland was predeceased by his sister, Joyce Rose and husband Walter C. Rose.

     A celebration of life was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Cane Branch Baptist Church, where he was a longtime member, with Pastor John Johnson and longtime friend Winston Todd officiating.

     A private burial was planned for a later date.
