Terry Ronald Buffkin: Loris
1943 – 2024
Terry Ronald Buffkin of Loris passed away on Saturday, Nov. 9, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 81.
Born in Columbus County on Aug. 13, 1943, he was the son of the late Jamison Buffkin, and the late Lucille Strickland Buffkin.
Mr. Terry served his country with courage, honor, and distinction in the U.S. Air Force. After his military service, he worked with Lowe’s Home Improvement in contract sales until his retirement. He and his son then started Terry R. Buffkin & Son, Inc., a freelance trim and hardware installation company. He never met a stranger and would pick and joke with everyone he met.
Mr. Terry was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He had a lifelong love of horses, especially his Tennessee Walking horses, but above all else, the love he had for his family was unwavering.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 57 years, Princess Ann Buffkin; a daughter, Wendy Buffkin Gore (Clark); a son, Cameron Buffkin (Cassady); grandchildren Morgan Gore Ingram (Colby), Meaghan Gore, Dally Buffkin and Marshall Buffkin, and their mother, Katherine Graham, and Landon Buffkin, and his mother, Jessi Childress; two step grandchildren, McKinley Godwin and Camdyn Godwin; great-grandchildren Zoie and Sophie; a sister, Mary Frances O’Brien; sisters-in-law Barbara Buffkin and Sue Buffkin; and brothers-in-law Butch Hopkins, Bob Gray, and Tony Shelley.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Terry was predeceased by his two brothers, Lane Buffkin and Kenny Buffkin; and three sisters, April B. Gray, Donna B. Shelley, and Linda B. Hopkins.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Pastor Rodney Hord and Reverend Mack Hutson officiating. Committal services with military honors followed at Holly Hill Cemetery.
