Donald Spivey: Tabor City

1938 – 2024

     Donald Spivey of the Vinegar Hill community, Tabor City, died Sunday, Dec. 1, in his home. He was 86.

     Born in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Dothan Bethea Spivey and Dessie Wright Spivey.

     He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Williamson (Jan) and Kelly Gann of Tabor City; one brother, Charles Spivey of Fort Mill; one sister, Shirley Walton of Monroe; two grandchildren, Tiffany Rising (Marcus) and Nicholas Williamson (Kristi); two great-grandchildren, Haley Rising and Landon Rising.

     In addition to his parent’s, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Spivey; two brothers, Lavern Spivey and Ralph Spivey; and one sister, Leona Lanier.

     He was a member of Jones Street Missionary Baptist Church.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding services in the chapel.
