Liston Harry Prince: Loris

1948 – 2024

     Liston Harry “Harry” Prince of Loris passed away on Dec. 14 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was 76.

     Born Jan. 18, 1948, in Loris, SC, he was the son of the late Liston Clio “Bill” Prince and Mary Alice Parker Prince.

     Harry was a longtime member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. At the church, he served in several positions and was known for his cooking, famous chicken bog, and superb checker playing skills. He worked at Hardee by EVH Mfg. Company where he was an employee and co-owner for more than 50 years.

     At work, he was well known throughout the southeast for his cheerful nature and helpfulness when he talked to customers. He was a member of Horry County Fire Rescue Mt. Vernon Station for more than 30 years, a member and treasurer of WOW Lodge 1123 Daisy Camp for more than 50 years, and helped with Boy Scout and community events over the years.

     Harry was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend to all and every young and old person in the community always wanted to go see him on the farm to see what he had going on any given day.

     Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Diane Hardee Prince of the home; children David Prince (Stefanie), Jeremy Prince (Rachel), and Jeanie Prince Jones (Steven); brothers Leonard Prince (Shirley) and Teddy Prince (Doris); a sister, Mary Prince Rhodes; sisters in law Frances Prince and Meleisa Prince; grandchildren Luke Prince, Jacob Prince, Evan Prince, Josie Gore (Logan), Landon Carroll, Gage Jones, and Case Jones; lots of nephews and nieces and community folks who love and admire the legendary “Uncle Harry”.

     In addition to his parents, Harry was predeceased by two of his brothers, Mike Prince and Kenneth Prince; and a brother-in-law, Mike Rhodes.

     Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Pastor Rodney Hord officiating. Committal services followed at Twin City Memorial Gardens.
