Marvin David “M.D.” Long, Jr.: Loris
1939 – 2024
Marvin David “M.D.” Long, Jr. passed away on Dec. 15, at McLeod Seacoast hospital. He was 85.
Born Aug. 13, 1939 in Longs, he was the son of the late Marvin David Long, Sr. and the late Eula Inez Hardee Long.
Mr. Long worked at Long’s Body Shop and then Linda’s Upholstery and Auto Repair until his retirement, and attended Live Oak Baptist Church in Loris.
Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Faye Shannon Long; sons David Wayne Long and Mark Anthony Long; daughters Tina Long Edge (Race), Stella Gerald, Gloria Shannon Schultz (Chip), and Bobbie Jo Faircloth Norton (J.P.); grandchildren Tiffany Long Martin, Jonathan Long, Phillip Long, Alston Edge, Haiden Edge Lee (Bryson), Hazzard Schultz (Sherry), Amber Schultz, Nikki Shannon Faircloth, and Lindsey Norton; great-grandchildren Hunter, Blayne, Dalton, Laycie, Silus, Madelyn, Evan, Caleb, Jenna, and Scarlet; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Doug Long; sisters Carolyn L. Sutta (Henry), Margaret Small Chestnut, Eulee Long, and Sylvia Jones (Thomas); and a special nephew, Freddie Long (Beth).
In addition to his parents, Mr. Long was predeceased by his brothers, Hermon Long, Charles E. Long, Wendell Long, Thurmon Long, and Donald Long; and sisters Betty Long Green and Dalma Lee Long.
Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Hardwick Funeral Home.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at Live Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Floyd officiating, committal services following at Live Oak Cemetery.
