Lonnie Lee Powers: Mullins

1951 – 2024

     Lonnie Lee Powers of Mullins died Friday, Dec. 27, in his home surrounded by his family. He was 73.

     Born Aug. 20, 1951 in Dillon County, he was the son of the late Dewey Powers and Elberta Lee Powers.

     He is survived by his wife, Doris Marie Hunt Powers of the home; three daughters, Gail Causey of Nichols, Kim Long of Girard, Georgia, and Christy Buffkin of Marion; a brother, Dean Powers of Thomasville; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and very special friends.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Mack Powers, Junior Powers, Raeford Powers, Woodrow Powers, and James Powers; and five sisters, Ruth Alder, Shirley Willis, Myrtle Lee Turner, Geraldine Thompson, and Betty Powers.

     Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, in the Mullins First Baptist Church Sanctuary. Burial followed in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Nichols.
