Thomas Gwilliam Duncan: Nakina

1928 – 2025

     Thomas Gwilliam Duncan of Nakina died Thursday, Jan. 23, in his home. He was 96.

     Born Oct. 23, 1928 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Alton Edwin Duncan and Retha Lola Long Duncan.

     He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force where he served in the Korean War, and United States Civil Service.

     He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

     He is survived by his wife Clara Long Duncan; children Christine J. Smith, Thomas G. Duncan Jr., and Joseph L. Duncan; four grandchildren, Terri Y. Durland (Michael), Aimee R. Duncan, Thomas G. Duncan III, and Benjamin W. Duncan (Raven); and four great grandchildren, Jaycee Durland, Landon Duncan, Jesse Duncan, and Maggie Duncan.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Edwin L. Duncan; and nine siblings, Virgie E. Duncan, Alton W. Duncan, Charles W. Duncan Sr., Cecil R. Duncan, Virginia D. Duncan, Homer H. Duncan, Magdalene S. Duncan, Edgar P. Duncan, and Jimmy R. Duncan.

     Visitation was planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.

     Graveside services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, in Duncan Cemetery, Savannah Extension, Tabor City.
