Mary Lou Nobles Godwin: Clarendon
1956 – 2025
Mary Lou Nobles Godwin of Clarendon died Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, due to injuries from an automobile accident. She was 68.
Born in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late James Nobles and Josephine Nealy Nobles.
She is survived by her husband, Dennie Dean Godwin of the home; one daughter, Tamyka Lynn Batten and husband Delane of Cerro Gordo; one son, Robby Dean Godwin and wife Elizabeth of Clarendon; two sisters, Linda Nobles Perritt and Beth Ann Buffkin of Tabor City; four grandchildren, Nathaniel Lane Batten, Jacoby Andrew Batten, Allison Grace Godwin, and Molly Rae Godwin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Howard Nobles and Joseph Devon Nobles; two sisters, Joyce Tyler and Martha Nobles Spivey.
Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City.
Family planned to receive friends during th4e hour preceding services in the chapel.
