Phyllis Crayton Anderson: Whiteville

1946 – 2025

     Phyllis Crayton Anderson of Whiteville died Thursday, Feb. 6, in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center of Whiteville. She was 78.

     Born in Spruce Pine, she was the daughter of the late Dan and Betty Grindstaff.

     She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Sammy R. Anderson of Whiteville; one daughter, Amy Trythall and husband Joe of Williamson, Georgia; two grandchildren, Austin Hege and Madison Hege of Conway; three brothers, Wayne Grindstaff and wife Doris of Wilmington, Douglas Grindstaff and wife Sara of Mooresville, and Dean Crayton and wife Barb of Thomasville; a sister, Carol Huffman and husband Brian of North Wilkesboro; and several nieces and nephews and extended family.

     Funeral services were planned for 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in Old Zion Cemetery, Tabor City.

     Visitation was planned from 2 to 3:15 p.m., preceding services, in the chapel.
