Elwanda Norris Ard: Green Sea

1935 – 2025

     Elwanda Norris Ard of Green Sea died Wednesday, March 26, in her home She was 89.

     Born Sept. 22, 1935 in Horry County, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson Norris and Ora Mae Powell Norris and the widow of Ellie Ard.

     Ms. Elwanda was a member of Dogwood Hill Baptist Church. She loved to travel with her husband Ellie and friends, Tommy and Barbara. Later she and her daughter traveled together. She especially loved the North Carolina Mountains. She was a loving mama, Grandma, and Memaw. She was loved by all. Her family will miss her greatly but have beautiful heart filled memories to keep them going.

     She is survived by four children, Betty Jean Hilbourn of Whiteville, Wanda Kay Jacobs of Lexington, Barry Craig Ward of Travares, Florida, and Mickey Dean Ward of Green Sea; two step children, Ronnie Ard of Lake City and Susan Ard of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Michael Ward of Nakina, Chris Ward of Chadbourn, Hope Mefford of Lexington, Kevin Jacobs of Lexington, Robin Brock of Leesburg, Florida, Bobby Brock of Lakeland, Florida, Wesley Ward of Green Sea, Blake Ward of Longs, and Aubrey Skaggs of Ohio; eleven great grandchild; ten great great-grandchildren; one sister, Hilda Fialko of Crystal River, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Ward; a grandchild, Ashley McCartney; one brother, Worley Norris; two sisters, Lila Mae Fields and Shirley Burkette.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 28, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.

     Funeral services were planned for noon Saturday, March 29, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
