Alma Lois Hinson Cartrette: Clarendon

1930 – 2025

     Alma Lois Hinson Cartrette of Clarendon died Friday, May 16, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 94.

     Born Sept. 18, 1930 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel “Dan” Hinson and Stella Hardee Hinson.

     She is survived by two sons, Rev. Bobby Cartrette of Clarendon and Randall Gene Cartrette of Whiteville; a daughter, Frances Ann Gore of Whiteville; one brother, Otis Wayne Hinson of High Point; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Austin Cartrette; one son, John Mack “JM” Cartrette; four grandchildren; and one great grandson.

     Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Monday, May 19, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

     Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services in the chapel.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC.
