Doris Vaught Hardee: Loris
1931 – 2025
Doris Vaught Hardee of Loris passed away on Thursday, May 15, at McLeod Seacoast hospital. She was 94.
Born April 18, 1931, in Loris, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Hewitt and the late Isla Rowell.
Mrs. Hardee found her greatest joy in tending to her beautiful yard and flowers, drawing strength from her faith and church, and above all else, pouring love into her family.
Survivors include her son, William “Billy” Joseph Vaught, Jr. (Margaret); daughters Peggy V. Anderson (James), and Nancy M. Shelley (Jim); five grandchildren, Joey Vaught (Crysti), Kisa D. Vaught, Summer Vaught Goude (Kevin), Jeffrey Shawn Moore (Brittany), and Crystal Nystedt (Magnus); fourteen great-grandchildren, W.J. Vaught, Jameson Anderson, Josie Anderson, Chance Floyd, Harli Vaught, Haynes Vaught, Madison Brianna Causey, Jennilee Moore, Emmalynn Moore, Isla Moore, Trevor Goude, Mitchell Goude, Ryan Goude, and Britton Black; and one great-great-grandchild, Kingston Johnson.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hardee was predeceased by her first husband, William Joseph Vaught, Sr., second husband, James C. Hardee; two grandchildren, Tiffany Moore Causey, and Chris Anderson; a brother, Gary Hewitt; and sisters Edith Brown, Louise Williams, Eunice Hardee, and Bobbie Vaught.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Mt. Leon Baptist Church with Pastor Andy Bell officiating. Committal services followed at Buck Creek cemetery.
