Ernest Carl Prince: Loris

1938 – 2025

     Ernest Carl Prince of Loris passed away on Friday, June 13, at McLeod Seacoast hospital. He was 86.

     Born on Aug. 11, 1938, in Loris, he was the son of the late Ernest Ivey Prince and the late Lillie Pearl Russ Prince.

     Mr. Prince served his country with courage, dignity, and honor in the United States Navy for 22 years. Mr. Prince cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, had a deep love for classic western shows and found great joy in dancing, especially with his friends and family.

     Survivors include his companion, Rose Lewis; a son, Terry Witmer (Patricia); daughters Julie Sampsell (Larry), and Lisa Prince Murphy (Gene); grandchildren Ashlee Hodges (Jessie), Christina Fulghum, Stacey Witmer, Blake Prince, and Brittany Prince; great-grandchildren Noah Cannon, Jackson Hodges, and Madison Fulghum; a brother, W. Paul Prince; and sisters Brenda P. Bridgers (Jerry), and Dixie P. Hayes (Gene).

     In addition to his parents, Mr. Prince was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Straub Prince; a son, Carl David Prince; and one sister, Phyllis L. Fowler.

     Family planned to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Hardwick Funeral Home.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Pastor Robert Lewis and Rev. Mack Hutson officiating, committal services with military honors following at Princeville Cemetery.
