Joanne Gore Sarvis: Loris
1936 – 2025
Joanne Gore Sarvis of Loris passed away on Wednesday, June 18, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence. She was 89.
Born Jan. 2, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Dave Needham Gore and the late Amanda Cletus Edwards Gore.
Mrs. Sarvis farmed with her husband for many years and then worked with People’s Federal Bank until her retirement. In her personal life, she was a longtime member of Dogwood Hill Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of the choir for more than 60 years.
Survivors include her son, Stan (Roni) Sarvis; a daughter, Amy (Junior) Sarvis Mincey; a sister, Peggy Gore Branch; and grandchildren Caleb (Morgan) Sarvis and Ethan Sarvis.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sarvis was predeceased by her loving husband, Dave Hubert Sarvis; her three brothers, W.L. Gore, Norman Gore and Nick Gore; and her sister, Erma Wright.
Family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the staff of McLeod Hospice House for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
Funeral services were planned for 4 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Dogwood Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Floyd officiating, committal services following at Twin City Memorial Gardens.
Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services at the church.
