Michael David “Barrell” Wright: Longs

1977 – 2025

     Michael David “Barrell” Wright of Longs died Tuesday, Sept. 9. He was 48.

     Born Feb. 28, 1977 in Columbus County, he was the son of Melita Byerly Wright of Tabor City and Carl David Wright of Nakina.

     In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Kevin Wright (Dawn) of Youngsville; grandfather, John Byerly of Archdale; and two nieces, Addison and Braelyn Wright.

     He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thelma Byerly, Carl and Bertha Wright.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept.1 3, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in Wright Cemetery, Minos Meares Road.

     Pallbearers are Jason Ward, Jason Hilburn, Whitney Hughes, Chad Turbeville, Richie Hinson, and Jason Greene. Honorary pallbearers are Adrian Grady, Jamie Synder, Jason Turbeville, Snapper Worley, Brandon Prince, Jake Fonvielle, Lang Kinlaw, Adrian Greene, and Van Greene.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding services in the chapel.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Randolph 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203, or here, in memory of Michael’s grandmother, Thelma Byerly.
