Georgia Myrtle Johnson Holmes: Loris
1932 – 2025
Georgia Myrtle Johnson Holmes of Loris passed away on Monday, Sept. 15, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 93.
Born April 25, 1932, in Loris, she was the daughter of the late George Samuel Johnson and the late Fodie Miller Johnson.
Mrs. Holmes was a loving homemaker who found joy in fishing with her family, tending to her garden, and faithfully serving as a devoted member at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving sons, Sammy Holmes (Regina), and David Holmes (Penny); four grandchildren, Christopher Holmes (Ashleigh), Courtney Suggs (Edward), Jeremy Holmes (Meredith), and Brittney Holmes; seven great-grandchildren, Case Holmes, Becca Holmes, Ansleigh Suggs, Eli Holmes, Treble Flowers, Haven Suggs, Brooks Suggs, and Kennedy Suggs; step-sister, June Rodham; and special friend and caregiver, Lynda Skipper.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holmes was predeceased by her husband, Ira Thomas Holmes; a son, Mark Johnson Holmes; three brothers, Maryland Johnson, Calvin Johnson, and Bobby Johnson; five sisters, Virginia Smith, Luttie Norris, Velma Strickland, Eunice Cox, and Peggy Gore; and special friend, Lester Blanton.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Antioch Cemetery with Pastor Donnie Graham officiating.
Pallbearers were her grandsons and great grandsons Christopher Holmes, Case Holmes, Jeremy Holmes, Eli Holmes. Edward Suggs, and Treble Flowers. Honorary pallbearer was Brooks Suggs.
