James Dan Bellamy Sr.: Loris
1945 – 2025
James Dan Bellamy Sr. of Loris died Wednesday, Oct. 1, in his home. He was 80.
Born in Horry County, he was the son of the late John Dallas Bellamy and Nancy Bell Watts Bellamy.
Dan worked as a Deputy Coroner for many years with Horry County Coroner’s Office. After his retirement he continued his work with the Horry County School system as a bus driver.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Faye Hardee Bellamy of the home; one son, James Dan Bellamy, Jr. and wife Michelle of Loris; one daughter, Tammy Bellamy Watts and husband Darren of Conway; Randall Lewis and wife Christy of Conway, who Dan referred to as his other son; a brother, Ronald Lane Bellamy and wife Diane of Loris; three grandchildren, Brianna Long of Conway, Bailey Watts of Conway, James Dylan Bellamy and wife Brantlee of Loris; one great grandson, River Long of Conway; an aunt, Diane King of Clinton, South Carolina; and special brother Freddie “Old Goat” Williams.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette Summers.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, in the Buck Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Longs.
