Robert Morgan Smith: Loris

1944 – 2025

     Robert Morgan Smith of Loris passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at McLeod Loris Hospital. He was 81.

     Born Aug. 17, 1944, in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of the late Hubert Smith, Sr. and the late Martha Eleanor King Smith.

     Mr. Smith served his country with courage, honor, and dignity in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked as a rural carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement and loved to watch NASCAR racing. Mr. Smith was a longtime member of Loris First Presbyterian Church.

     Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Martha M. Smith; a son, Allen Smith (Debbie); one daughter, Robin Smith Jones (Tommy); grandchildren Austin Jones, and Reiley Jones; two nephews, Steve Smith, and David Smith; and sister-in-law Betty Smith.

     In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was predeceased by his brother, Hubert Smith, Jr.

     Memorial services were planned for 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at Loris First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Tim Osment officiating.

     Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services at the church.
