Wilbur Floyd Benton: Longs

1941 – 2026

     Wilbur Floyd Benton of Longs surrounded by loved ones at home, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 2. He was 84.

     Born Oct. 29, 1941 in Loris, he was the son of the late Floyd Benton and Cathleen Todd Benton.

     In addition to his parents, Wilbur was predeceased by his loving wife Jeanette Peacock Benton; a son Jamie Benton; his brother John Larry Benton, his sister Helen Benton; and a brother-in-law.

     Surviving are two daughters Cathie B. Tyler and Dawn Richards; a son Mark Richards; a sister, Button Benton Boyd; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a special friend Eunice Barker McDowell; and other extended family.

     Wilbur was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served as an Air Traffic Controller.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel, a private committal service following at Twin City Memorial Gardens.

     Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services at the funeral home.
