Doris Watts Grainger: Green Sea
1928 – 2026
Doris Watts Grainger of the Carolina Community, Green Sea, died on Tuesday, April 14. She was 97.
Born in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Albert Dow Watts and Edith Soles Watts.
She was the widow of Ralph Livingston Grainger.
She is survived by her three children, Steve L. Grainger of Green Sea, Kitty Granger Coleman of Little River, Gina Grainger Cartrette of Tabor City; five grandchildren, Carson Casoli, Lindsey Grainger, Jesse G. Grainger, Ashleigh Cox (Jonathan), Paige Strickland (Bradley); and five great-grandchildren; Jack Cox, Collins Cox, Saylor Strickland, Blakely Strickland, and Tatum Strickland.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Melody Grainger; six brothers, Bill Watts, Ted Watts, Dale Watts, Ned Watts, Ronald Watts, Don Watts; and four sisters, Virginia Long, Betty Ward, Peggy Currie, and Phyllis Althen.
Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.
Graveside service were planned for 11 a.m. Friday, April 17, in Carolina Cemetery, Green Sea.
