Betty Phelps Cartrette: Chadbourn

1959 – 2023

     Betty Phelps Cartrette of the Beaverdam Community, Chadbourn, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023 in her home. She was 64.

     Born in Brunswick County, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Phelps and Leona Benton Phelps, she was widow of Ricky Dell Cartrette.

     She is survived by one daughter, Jessica Lynn Simmons (Cassey) of Chadbourn; two brothers, Robert Stewart of Hallsboro, and James Phelps of Whiteville; a sister, Faye Costello of Hallsboro; and two grandchildren, Alex Fowler and Morgan Nealey.

     In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son Jonathan Cartrette.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, in Inman Ward Funeral Home, Tabor City.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in McPherson Cemetery, Chadbourn.
