Rosa Lee Coates: Loris

1937 – 2023

     Rosa Lee Coates of Loris died Friday, Dec. 1, in Compass Post Rehabilitation Center, Conway. She was 86.

     Born in Lexington County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Whittle and Carrie Lou Craps Whittle.

     She is survived by one son, David K. Coates (Tammy) of Loris; two daughters, Judith Norton of West Columbia and Diane Fisher (Jeffrey) of Loris; a brother, Irvin Whittle of Leesville; one sister, Mary Ann Eargle of Lexington; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sheppard Lee Coates; a brother, Horace Whittle; and one sister, Rachel Long.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in Twin City Memorial Gardens, Loris.

     Visitation was planned during the hour preceding services in the chapel.
