Rev. James Wade Fowler: Tabor City

1926 – 2024

     Rev. James Wade Fowler of Tabor City died Tuesday, Jan. 2, in Tabor Commons Assisted Living, Tabor City. He was 97, and a retired Baptist minister.

     Born April 23, 1926 in Horry County, he was the son of the late Leon Adolphos Fowler and Hattie Daisy Rogers Fowler.

     He is survived by one daughter, Sandra F. Wheeler of Angier; a son, Larry Wade Fowler of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one brother, John Hiram Fowler of Tabor City; two sisters, Faye Leigh of Seneca, Lois Fowler of Columbia, South Carolina; four grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and two step sons, Ricky Harrelson of Wilmington and Duane Harrelson.

     In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lorena Bennett Harrelson; and three brothers, Harvey A. Fowler, Leon Douglas Fowler, and Alvard Fowler.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, in Tabor City Baptist Church, with private burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

     Family planned to receive friend during the hour preceding services in the church.
