Harold Charles Dorsey: Loris

1939 – 2026

     Harold Charles Dorsey of the Gurley Community of Loris, passed away peacefully at his home on Aug. 9. He was 87.

     He was born May 11, 1939 to the late Joe Mann Dorsey and Hattie Booth Dorsey.

     Harold attended Loris schools before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy. After returning home, he farmed for many years before beginning a career with Clemson Extension Service, where he worked until his retirement.

     He was preceded in death by his siblings, Thomas Dorsey, Mike Dorsey, John Dorsey, Louise Strickland, Kathaleen Thomas, Elizabeth Currence, Ann Johnson, and Genewood Dorsey.

     He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce Doyle Dorsey; his daughter, Robin Dorsey Sessoms of Loris; a sister, Wilma Hatchell of Marion; two beloved grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

     Memorial services were planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel with Rev. Mack Hutson officiating.

     Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services at the funeral home.
