Clyde Franklin “Frank” Stanley, Jr. of Tabor City died Saturday, Jan. 13, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. He was 76.
He was born June 3, 1947, in Wilmington, and was the son of the late Clyde Franklin Stanley, Sr. and Annie Mercer Stanley of Tabor City.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Stanley Wright.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Fulford Stanley of 14 years; and his two children, Megan Stanley Kesler (husband, James Griffin Kesler) of Greensboro and Mauney Clyde Stanley (wife, Jalyn McGalliard Stanley) of Charlotte; a sister, Peggy Stanley Leggette (husband, Tony Leggette) of Tabor City; step-daughter Jennifer Stanley Wilson; grandchildren Lily James Kesler and Griffin Smith Kesler of Greensboro, Hollyn Bryn Stanley and Kolt Kincaid Stanley of Charlotte; step-granddaughter Kenleigh Elizabeth Wilson; and step-grandson, William Thomas Bradsher III.
Frank was loved by his first wife Donna Smith Stanley for 36 years (deceased October 2006).
Frank practiced law for nearly 50 years after graduating from North Carolina State University and Wake Forest Law School. He earned a reputation of being loyal to his clients, often placing their needs ahead of his own.
Through the years, Frank was actively involved in the community. He served as the chairman of the Board of Elections in Columbus County. He was a faithful member of Tabor City Baptist Church serving as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir Member.
In his free time, Frank enjoyed duck hunting, camping with his family, and shagging on the boulevard.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Tabor City Baptist Church, burial following in Myrtle Green Cemetery, Tabor City.
Visitation was planned for the hour preceding services in the church.
