Bonnie Lee Gilmore Cartrette: Loris

1937 – 2024

     Bonnie Lee Gilmore Cartrette of Loris passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, at McLeod Loris hospital. She was 86.

     Born March 15, 1937 in Loris, she was the daughter of the late Ethel Burr Gilmore and the late Villa Lee Watts Gilmore.

     Mrs. Cartrette was a longtime member of Lawndale Baptist Church, an avid baker, and a loving homemaker. She dearly loved both her family and church family and will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

     Survivors include her two sons, Roger Cartrette (Debra), and Stevie Cartrette (Sandra); a daughter, Tammy Kidman (Rev. Dr. Ricky); seven grandchildren, Tina Phillips (Steven), Billy Ray Gainus, Brittany Flake (William), Josiah Kidman (Janelle), Stephen Cartrette (Ana), Russell Pigg, and Leighann Oxendine (Allen); eleven great-grandchildren, Kaiya Phillips, Gabriel Phillips, Callie Phillips, Emery Oxendine, Anastyn Cartrette, Laine Oxendine, Jeremiah Flake, Isaac Flake, Rebecca Flake, Savannah Pigg, and Elijah Cartrette; her sister, Kaye Nealey; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

     In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her children’s father, Jesse James Cartrette; three sisters, Myrtle Sessions, Betty Causey, and Reba McCants; and her brother Jack Gilmore.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at Lawndale Baptist Church with Pastor Kelly Johnson officiating, with private committal services to follow.

     Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services, and again following services, at the church.
