Mary Stanley Currie: Loris

1927 – 2024

     Mary Stanley Currie of Loris went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, Feb. 14. She was 96.

     She was born on Nov. 21, 1927, in Loris. She was a daughter of the late Wayland H. and Bertha Rhodes Stanley of Loris.

     Mrs. Currie is survived by her daughters, Audrey C. Greene (Mickey) of Tabor City, Rhonda C. Turner (Jerry) of Chadbourn, and Felicia C. James (Neil) of Loris; six grandchildren Mickey “Van” Greene, Jr. of Tabor City, Adrian Greene (Sarah) of Easley, Jason Greene (Awbrey) of Myrtle Beach, Tarra Best (Randy) of Brunswick, Georgia, Alexis James of Charleston, and Alston Hamilton (Charles) of Charleston; 10 great-grandchildren; and beloved nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, James Hoyt Currie of Loris; her sisters, Iris Budding of Wilmington, Lois Cannon of Clayton, Georgia, Louise Somers of North Myrtle Beach; her bothers, Julian C. Stanley of Loris, George Fletcher Stanley of Edmond, Oklahoma and Harold G. Stanley of Charleston.

     Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Loris First Baptist Church with Dr. Louis Venable officiating. Committal services followed at Twin City Memorials Gardens.
