Jack Blanton: Loris

1934 – 2024

     Jack Blanton of Loris passed away on Thursday, Feb. 22. He was 89.

     Born April 24, 1934, in Loris, he was the son of the late Samuel Overson Blanton and the late Matha Skipper Blanton.

    Mr. Blanton served his country with courage and honor in the United States Air Force for 22 years. After his retirement he was the owner and operator of the Dairy Maid in Loris and a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church.

     Survivors include his three sons, Rev. Jeffery Blanton (Judith), Richard Blanton (Glenda), and John Blanton (Donna); eight grandchildren, Jennifer Curry (Lynn), Dr. Sharon Knewtson (Dr. Jeremy Knewtson), Stephanie Blanton, Lt. Col. Michael Blanton, Bridgette Blanton, Wesley Blanton, Ovidia Toro, Terri Toro; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

     In addition to his parents, Mr. Blanton was predeceased by his wife, Ila Pearl Blanton; ten siblings, J.P. Blanton, Mack Edison, Bill Blanton, Joe Blanton, Hubert Blanton, Matha Lee Causey, Louise Richardson Doyle, Mary Lou Blanton, Leroy Sarvis, and Cliff Sarvis.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Hardwick Funeral Home.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Cherry Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Joey Price officiating, committal services with military honors following at Cane Branch Cemetery.
