Betty Ruth Jones Hardee: Holly Hill
1943 – 2024
Betty Ruth Jones Hardee of Holly Hill passed away on Sunday, April 21, at MUSC in Orangeburg. She was 80.
Born Nov. 14, 1943, in Clayton, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Ben Tarpley Jones and the late Alma Lynn Jones.
Mrs. Hardee was a homemaker who loved her flower gardening, crafting, sewing and her little dogs. As a young woman, she owned a small plant nursey, was a seamstress and a craft vendor for many years.
Survivors include her two daughters, Wanda H. Kelly (Richard) of Lexington and Lisa H. Jakobsen (Allan) of Front Royal, Virginia; a son, Mel Hardee of Holly Hill; grandchildren Tina Spence, Richard Lanier, Elsa Jakobsen and Luke Jakobsen; great-grandchildren Cole Spence and Percy Jakobsen; a brother, Charles R. Jones (Gail) of Abbeville, Alabama; and her beloved dog “Scooter”.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hardee was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Norwood Gleaton Hardee; a brother, Lloyd Bynum; and a nephew. James Jones.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Twin City Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mack Hutson officiating
