Barbara Jean Lanier: Chadbourn

1947 – 2024

     Barbara Jean Lanier of Chadbourn died Thursday, June 6, , in Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center, Whiteville. She was 77.

     Born March 2, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Rozier Clinton Phipps and the late Geneva Duncan Phipps.

     She is survived by her grandson, Austin Oliver (Emma) of Chadbourn; great-grandchild Ivey Oliver of Chadbourn; a brother, Roger Dale Phipps of Tabor City; and step-mother Mary Spivey Phipps of Tabor City.

     In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Waylen Franklin Lanier; a daughter, Frankie Jean Lanier; and a sister, Belinda McKinney.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in the Old Cribbtown Cemetery.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding services in the chapel.
