Charles Edward Long: Loris
1945 – 2024
Charles Edward Long of Loris passed away on Sunday, July 14, at his home. He was 78.
Born Aug. 22, 1945, in Loris, he was the son of the late Marvin David Long, Sr. and the late Eula Hardee Long.
Mr. Long was the owner and operator of Charles’ Body Shop & Used Cars, and a member of Lawndale Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Jessie Earlene Faircloth Long; daughters Renay Long Hardee (Chris) and Melissa Long Lambert (Wesley); granddaughter Hannah Nichole Sanford (Houston); two great-granddaughters, Emma Grace Sanford and Callie Rae Sanford; brothers M.D. Long (Linda Faye) and Doug Long; sisters Margaret Chestnut, Sylvia Jones (Thomas), Eulee “Lucy” Roark, and Carolyn Suta (Henry); sisters-in-law Molly Long and Mary Frances “Doodle” Lane; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Long was predeceased by four brothers, Herman Long, Wendell Long, Donald Long, and Thurman Long; and one sister, Betty Green.
Family planned to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at Hardwick Funeral Home.
Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Lawndale Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating, committal services following at Antioch Cemetery.
