Harold Eugene Rhodes: Loris

1919 – 2024

     Harold Eugene Rhodes of Loris passed away on Nov. 6 at his home. He was 85.

     Born Aug. 14, 1939, in Loris, he was the son of the late George Columbus Rhodes and the late Mabel Louise Butler Rhodes.

     Mr. Rhodes worked with Wolverine Brass until his retirement and was a longtime active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Harold was a strong hardworking man who loved gardening and was affectionately known as the “Peanut Man” of Goretown.

     Survivors include his daughters, Sandra Rhodes Lupo (Terry) and Sharon Graham McLeod (David); three grandchildren, Heather Lupo, Aaron Graham (Sara), and Ashley Graham; two brothers, Tommy Rhodes (Wanda) and Larry Rhodes; and sisters, Virginia Rowell and Frances Graham.

     In addition to his parents, Mr. Rhodes was predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret Chestnut Rhodes; son-in-law Ashley D. Graham; three brothers, Paul Rhodes, Bill Rhodes, and Wendell Rhodes; and a sister, Bobby Grainger.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Hardwick Funeral Home.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mack Hutson officiating, committal services following at Buck Creek Cemetery.
