Helen Pratt Rogers: Cary

1938 – 2024

Helen Pratt Rogers of Cary, beloved mother and grandmother, was called to heaven on Dec. 28, 2024, in Cary. She was 86.

She passed away peacefully with family by her side and was blessed to have had a wonderful few weeks with her loved ones before a brief, unexpected illness.

Helen was born Sept. 20, 1938, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the fourth child of a Baptist minister, and was raised in nearby Lonoke.

Before moving to the Triangle area, she spent her years raising children in College Park, Georgia, and Tabor City. Everywhere she went, she found her spiritual and social life in the church, where she volunteered and was active in the choir. Her faith and church music buoyed her. She found joy at home playing hymns and singing alone or for her children to hear.

Helen fiercely loved her family, and her loyalty ran deep. To say she loved her grandchildren is an understatement, and she enjoyed the special times she spent with all of them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Millard and Dorothy Keeler Pratt; her husband, James Charles Rogers; and her siblings, June Denton, Bill Pratt, and Mary Pettey.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Jim (Cathy), John, Steve, and Elizabeth Ratledge (Brian); and eight grandchildren, Jami, Jessica, Abby, Lucy, Jimmy, John Brian, Charlie, and Bethany.

Services were planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at Triangle Community Church, 4216 Kildaire Farm Road, Apex.

Family requests that attendees wear a pop of pink in honor of Helen as it was her favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in her memory to Spiritual Twist Productions in Garner, NC, or World Wildlife Fund.
