Margaret Soles Tyson: Tabor City
1940 – 2025
Margaret Soles Tyson of Tabor City died Friday, March 14, in UNC Rex Hospital, Raleigh. She was 85.
Born Jan. 21, 1940, in Horry County, she was the daughter of the late Wendell Lee Soles and Ida Mae Jordan Soles. She was the widow of David James Tyson.
She is survived by one daughter, Sonja Louise Godwin (Danny) of Chadbourn; two sons, David Jeffery Tyson (Karen) of Raleigh and Richard Gregory Tyson (Leanne) of Summerville; a brother, Jerry Wayne Soles of Clayton; four sisters, Annie Mae Blackburn of Loris, Nancy Chestnut of Nakina, Barbara Chandler of Swansboro, and Sandra Stevens of Loris; two grandchildren, Dana Louise Teal of Roper and Trina Michelle Worley of Clarendon; seven great grandchildren; and twelve great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ruther Lee Soles; a daughter, Jennie Lynn Timmons; one grandson, Donald Bradley Timmons; and one sister, Christine Watts.
A graveside service was planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, in Myrtle Green Cemetery.
Visitation was planned for the hour preceding the service in the cemetery.
