John Gordon Brown, Sr.: Loris
1940 – 2025
John Gordon Brown, Sr. of Loris passed away on Saturday, June 14, at Loris Rehab and Nursing Center. He was 85.
Born June 6, 1940, in Corry, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Thomas R. Brown and the late Eleanor Louise Houser Brown.
Mr. Brown graduated from Corry High School in 1957 and went on to proudly served in the United States Air Force. This decision ultimately lead to a life dedicated to the service and protection of others.
After his military service, he volunteer with the Great Falls Rescue Squad, and he worked at the JP Stevens plant until its closing. Mr. Brown then worked with the Chester County Police Department and eventually retired from Great Falls Police Department.
In his personal life he enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and playing softball. Above all else, Mr. Brown was driven by a deep desire to help and protect all humankind, a goal he pursued with unwavering dedication and compassion throughout his life.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret M. Brown; a son, Keith Brown (Bridget); one daughter, Terri McAuley (Jeff); four grandchildren, Stephanie Richburg (Joe), Daniel Camp, Amanda Camp, and Kristin Brown; eight great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Precious.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was predeceased by his son, John Gordon Brown, Jr.; and a sister, Carolyn Stell.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
