Barbara Genell Housand McDowell: Conway

1945 – 2025

     Barbara Genell Housand McDowell of Conway passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 8. She was 80.

     Born Feb. 5, 1945 in Loris, she was the daughter of the late Claude Barden Housand and the late Amber Iris Long Housand.

     Survivors include her five children, Jerry McDowell of Conway, Gary McDowell of Longs, Genell McDowell of Loris, Sarah Zelazo of West Haven, Connecticut, and Lynn Beltran of Denver, Colorado; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Brenda Housand Norris.

     In addition to her parents, Mrs. McDowell was predeceased by her loving husband, Albert Ernest McDowell; and four siblings.

     Private memorial services were planned.

     In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials be made in Mrs. McDowell’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
