Leo Allen, Jr.: Chagrin Falls, OH

1938 – 2025

Leo Allen, Jr. of Chagrin Falls, Ohio went home to be with his Lord on Sept. 9. He was 87.

Born Aug. 5, 1938 in Tabor City, he was the last survivor of the seven children of Leo Allen, Sr. and Edna Nealey Allen of Tabor City.

He will be missed by his wife of 57 years, Edith Gaylord Allen; his sons Rod (Terrie), David (Michele); and his joy, two beautiful, talented granddaughters Carlee D’Lynn and Cailin Jordan Allen (CJ). He is also survived by his sister-and brother-in-law, Billie and Don Kleve and has many nephews, nieces, and their families in Wilmington; Grove City, Ohio; Erie, Pennsylvania; and Wickliffe, Ohio.

Leo lived a full and successful life. He was first in his family to graduate from high school, Tabor City High School. He served in the Army as a sergeant during the Cuban Missile Crisis and then the assassination of President Kennedy. He worked for the City of Columbus (Ohio) Division of Construction, for 30 years, as on-site representative on large road and bridge projects, the Columbus Convention Center, and finally demolition of the old Ohio Penitentiary.

He was a licensed scuba diver, an accomplished sailor, and held a private pilot’s license. He was also an excellent cook, a carpenter, and loved to dance.

Many thanks to Linda Ehrenbeit and Amelia Diczhazy for their care and support; to Arden Courts and Geauga Dept. on Aging; and to our neighbors in the Woods at Auburn Lakes for your support during his final journey.

Burr Funeral Home in Chardon, Ohio is handling arrangements for cremation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
