Betty Jordan Coleman: Tabor City

1934 – 2025

     Betty Jordan Coleman of Tabor City died Sunday, Sept. 14, in her home. She was 91.

     Born July 3, 1934, in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Devon Jordan and Mary Dutton Jordan.

     Mrs. Betty was a hard worker from being a seamstress to working on the farm. She loved manicuring her yard with flowers and just loved being outside, willing to help anyone she could even when she was not physically able to and a pleasure to meet with a smile that welcomed a conversation.

     She is survived by two sons, John Reno Coleman (Polly) of Tabor City and Randy Darrell Coleman of Cashiers; one brother, Jack Jordan of Clarendon; a sister, Lorene Jordan Soles of Chadbourn; four grandchildren, John Reno Coleman, Jr., Zachary Coleman, Chase Coleman and Hannah Tompkins; seven great grandchildren, Christopher Coleman, Lucas Coleman, Tanner Coleman, Gracie Coleman, Madalyn Tompkins, Elizabeth Coleman, and Vincent Coleman; and one great-great grandchild, Sagelyn Coleman.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Coleman, Jr.; one son, Patrick Coleman; a daughter, Denise Sellers; one grandson, Ryan Coleman; two sisters, Lucille Mellena and Virginia Taylor; and two brothers, Thomas Jordan and James Bill Jordan.

     Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding services in the chapel.
