George Peter Shaheen, Jr.: Loris
1957 – 2025
George Peter Shaheen, Jr., of Loris passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at Loris Rehab and Nursing Center. He was 86.
Mr. Shaheen was born Feb. 7, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late George Peter Shaheen, Sr. and the late Mary Braidy Shaheen. Mr. Shaheen served his country with courage, honor, and dignity in the United States Navy on USS Yosemite from Dec. 15, 1957 through Jan. 30, 1963. He worked for the New England Telephone Company for many years before his retirement.
Mr. Shaheen loved to cook and was an avid gun collector. His greatest pride and joy was his family, and he was known to be a hard worker. He had a genuine gift for caring for others and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need.
Survivors include his four daughters, Deborah Shaheen, Margaret (Peggy) Rose, Maria Gelinas and husband, Rod, and Michelle Doherty and husband, Jason; grandchildren William Robert Shaheen, and wife, Tammy, Courtney Lawson, and husband Timothy, Shane Gelinas, and fiancé, Alissa Abrahamson, Brianna May Doherty and fiancé Ryan DiVittorio, Nicholas Gelinas, Jarrod Doherty, Jennifer Rose, and Billy Rose; great-grandchildren, Xyon Jeremi Shaheen, Jack Shaheen, Kaden Scott, Jackson Gelinas, and Marina Beaudoi; siblings, Nora Byrd, Donna Clark and husband, Peter, Suzanne Abdalla, and husband, Michael, and John Shaheen, and wife Kathy; and his brother and sister, David and Nancy Walker Farrell.
Mr. Shaheen was predeceased by his wife, Darlene Shaheen; his son, Kevin Shaheen; a brother, Peter Shaheen; and his sisters, Elaine Poulack, and Annette Bova.
Funeral services were planned for noon Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Todd officiating.
Visitation was planned for the hour preceding services at the funeral home.
