Paul Russell Higgs: Loris

1947 – 2024

     Paul Russell Higgs of Loris passed away on Sunday, June 2, at Mcleod Loris hospital following a sudden illness. He was 77.

     Born April 5, 1947, in Laurel, Maryland, he was the son of the late Paul Elmer Higgs and the late Katherine Mae Green Higgs.

     Mr. Higgs served his country with courage, honor, and distinction in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a supervisor with a nuclear power company until his retirement and was a dedicated member of Loris First Baptist Church.

     Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of six years, Mrs. Annie Mae Blackburn Higgs; sons Robert Paul Higgs, Tad Russell Higgs, and Richard Blackburn (Arland); daughters Robin Sisk and Kellie Gore (Michael); sisters Linda Warner (Johnny), Carol Rager (Ken), and Barbara Honeycutt (Buddy); and his many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.

     In addition to his parents, Mr. Higgs was predeceased by his first wife, June Higgs; a brother, Eddie Higgs; and his son-in-law Robert Sisk.

     Memorial services were planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Loris First Baptist Church with Rev. Hunter Johnson officiating.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding services in the church.
