Neil Lewis Fowler: Southport

1938 – 2024

     Neil Lewis Fowler passed away on Thursday, June 6, peacefully at home in Southport with his family. He was 86.

     He was born on May 12, 1938 in Tabor City, the son of the late Bion Worth Fowler and Sanatha Stevens Fowler. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

     He was a United States Navy veteran and retired from Duke Energy Brunswick Plant after 27 years. He was a founding member of Civil Air Patrol Squadron NC-170 Southport, where he was the communications officer until recently. He served as deacon and trustee for Bethel Baptist Church of Southport.

     He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alma E. Fowler; a son, Mark Fowler and daughter Kathy F. Davis (Alan); grandchildren Brandon Fowler (Tracy) of Supply, Rachel Edwards (Anthony) of Southport, Francis Cooke (Anna) of Pensacola, Florida, Canyon Cooke (Sierra) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Alan C. Davis (Samantha) of Southport, Ridge Cooke of Southport; and 13 great-grandchildren.

     A graveside service was planned for 11 a.m. Monday, June 10, in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City.
