Rev. Daniel “Junior” Tyler: Tabor City
1943 – 2024
Rev. Daniel “Junior” Tyler of the Emerson Community of Tabor City went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept. 5, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was 81.
Junior was born on Aug. 25, 1943, in Columbus County, son of the late Daniel Elisha Tyler and Mary Katherine Brewer Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Nobles Tyler; his son, James Daniel “Danny” Tyler; siblings Alice Pearl Thompkins, Bernice Norris, James Tyler, Paul Kenny Tyler, Raleigh Tyler, Carlie Tyler, Homer Tyler, Tomlin Tyler, Pet Norris, Selinda Kennedy, Matty Mae Branch, and Rose Nealy.
Junior was a faithful soldier in the army of the Lord. He was a minister of the gospel, having preached the gospel for more than 40 years. Preacher Junior never failed to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others.
Junior leaves behind his daughter, Melinda T. Price (Kevin) of Tabor City; grandchildren Kendell Harrelson (Hailey), Trey Benton, Kendra Wilson (Glenn), Jessica Guyton (Nathan), Kayla Tyler; great-grandchildren, Wayland Benton, Wyatt Benton, Grayson Benton, Millie Benton, Brantley Hobbs, Gunner Hobbs, Elizabeth Guyton, and Autumn Wilson; siblings Betty Sue Tyler Cartrette of Tabor City, Joseph Tyler of Cerro Gordo, and Stella Tyler Hayden of Thomasville.
Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, at Worthington Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Cory Boyd and Pastor Tim Holden officiating. Burial followed in Myrtle Green Cemetery, Tabor City.
