Mary Joe Small: Tabor City

1944 – 2024

     Mary Joe Small of Tabor City went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, Sept. 22, in McLeod Seacoast hospital in Little River. She was 80.

     Mary Jo was born Aug. 13, 1944. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Small; a son, Dwayne Ward; and four siblings, Edison Fowler, Eldon Fowler, Dale Fowler, and Hilda Gray Nealy.

     Funeral services were planned for 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at New Life Baptist Church in Tabor City with Rev. Timmy Locklear officiating, burial following in Myrtle Green Cemetery.

     A time of visitation was planned from 3 to 3:45 p.m., ahead of services, at the church.

     Mary Jo is survived by her two sons, Timothy “Timmy” Ward (Christina), Rodney Ward (Dawn), of Tabor City; a brother, Danny Fowler of Tabor City; seven grandchildren, Brandon Ward, Meredith Ward, Donovan Ward, Kaitlyn Ward, Carter Ward, Joe Frank Rich II, and Lewis Eugene Rich; and nine great grandchildren.
