Thomas Freddie Moore: Loris
1940 – 2025
Thomas Freddie Moore of Loris passed away on Wednesday, June 18, at Wilson Senior Care, Loris following an illness. He was 84.
Born Dec. 4, 1940 in Olanta, he was the son of Mr. Richard Moore and Mrs. Kathleen Kirby Moore.
Mr. Moore was a proud graduate of The Citadel, Class of 1963, and completed his pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. In 1968 he moved to Loris and worked for Loris Drug Store. Later, he and his wife, Ruby Bartell Moore, purchased Gateway Drug Store and were co-owners until their retirement.
An original director of Horry County State Bank, now United Community Bank, Mr. Moore was a member of Swampfox Bassmasters and a Trustee and Elder of Loris First Presbyterian Church for many years. In his personal life Mr. Moore was an avid outdoorsman who loved bass fishing and hunting quail. He will be most remembered though as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a kind and generous man and a faithful friend to many.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Richard Hampton Moore and his wife Kristal of North Myrtle Beach; grandchildren Gavin Moore of Charleston, Andrew Moore and Katie Trussell of North Myrtle Beach; two brothers, Ryan Moore of Olanta and Ricky Moore of Florence.
In addition to his parents Mr. Moore was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Bartell Moore; and one son, Thomas Michael “Tommy” Moore.
Memorial services were planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Loris First Presbyterian Church with the Pastor Dr. Tim Osment officiating. Private committal services were planned.
Visitation was planned for the hour preceding services at the church.
