John Norman Lewis: Green Sea

1942 – 2025

     John Norman Lewis of Green Sea died Friday, July 4, in McLeod Seacoast hospital, Little River. He was 82.

     Born in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Marvin Lewis and Eula Jane Fowler Lewis. John was a veteran where he served his country in the U.S. Air Force and later was the owner and operator of Lewis Starter and Alternator Repair in Tabor City for 30 years.

     He is survived by his wife, Pearl Strickland Lewis of the home; two daughters, Tammy Lewis Blackman (Mitch) of Garner and Mona Strickland Griffin (Corbitt) of Green Sea; a brother, Phil Lewis of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Everett Blackman (Miranda) Neil Blackman, Kylea Rogers, Olivia Rogers; one great granddaughter, Everly Blackman; a niece, Natalie Marshall; one nephew, Mark Marshall; and brother-in- law Levy Strickland (Wanda) of Tabor City.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sue Marshall; a great-granddaughter, Lilian Blackman; and one nephew, Stewart Marshall.

     Graveside services with military honors were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, in Myrtle Green Cemetery, Tabor City.

     Family planned to receive friends following the service in the cemetery.
