Joseph Jackson Jones, Jr.: Nichols

1943 – 2025

     Joseph Jackson Jones, Jr. of Nichols passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Grand Strand Medical Center. He was 81.

     Born Nov. 4, 1943, in Conway, he was the son of the late Joseph Jackson Jones, Sr. and the late Ester Vera Jordan Jones.

     Mr. Jones served his country with courage, honor, and dignity in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was an avid motorcycle rider and a proud member of the American Legion and the Confederates of America. Mr. Jones was a longtime member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

     Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Donna R. Jones; a brother, Lushion Edward “Ed” Jones (Gloria); one sister, Ester J. Ammons; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

     Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Mount Olive Baptist Church with Pastor Hunter Johnson officiating. Committal services followed at Mount Olive Cemetery.
