Delmas Elwood Benton: Nakina

1936 – 2026

     Delmas Elwood Benton of Nakina passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, in Loris Rehab & Nursing Center, Loris. He was 90.

     Born Jan. 1, 1936, in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Barcie Delmas Benton and Alma Long Benton.

     He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Benton of the home; a son, Michael Benton (Gayle) of Longs; two step grandchildren, Dale Jones and Lydia Boose; and two step great grandchildren, Hunter Jones and Eagan Carswell.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldridge Benton and Norman Benton; and one sister, Ila Gertrude Benton.

     Visitation was planned from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. on Monday, March 2, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.

     Graveside services were planned for 1 p.m. Monday, March 2, in the Gore Community Cemetery.
