Loraine Edge Suggs Stroud: Conway

1931 – 2026

     Loraine Edge Suggs Stroud of Conway passed away on Monday, April 6, at Pruitt Nursing Home in Conway. She was 94.

     Born April 19, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Alfonzo Edge and the late Ruth Mae Ellis Edge.

     Mrs. Loriane was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Some of her most endearing sayings to her family were, “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck” and “God is good”.

     Born and raised in a large family her sense of humor and warmth were contagious, making her a beloved figure to all who knew her. Loraine had a love for crochet, travel and was fortunate to be able to travel to many places with friends and lived her life to the fullest.

     Left to cherish Loraine’s memory are her three children, Eugene Suggs (Phyllis), Ann Suggs Gasque (Jerry) and Brenda Suggs Hardee ( W.J.); her grandchildren, Wendy Suggs Graham (Charles), Sherry Suggs Martin (Joseph), Jennifer Suggs (Donald), Rodney Gasque (Susie), Tony Gasque (Dana), Carrie Hardee Hobbs (Nicky), Shonna Hardee Hobbs (Dalan), and William J. Hardee III (Chelsea); great-grandchildren, Steven Suggs, Aaron Martin (Donna), Travis Martin, Joel Martin (Britney), Luke Martin, Zachary Spivey, Dillon Spivey, Kelsey Spivey, Josh Finley, Luke Gasque, Jacob Gasque, Hanna Gasque, Olivia Hobbs, Caleb Hobbs, D.J. Hobbs, Bria Hobbs, Mabry Hardee, Nellie Hardee and Liam Hardee, and her siblings, Wilber Edge, Virginia Edge Prince, Carol Edge Holmes, Earl Edge and many nieces, nephews and love ones.

     Mrs. Loraine is preceded in death by her father, Alfonzo Edge, mother, Ruth Ellis Edge, special stepmother, Maude Hyatt Edge, first husband and father of her children, David Suggs and second husband, Vernon Stroud; brothers, Claude Freeman, John Edge, Howard Edge, and sister Gladys Edge Staley.

     Mrs. Loraine will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her remarkable life.

     Family would like to extend a very special “Thank You” to the many special caregivers and staff at Pruitt Nursing Home Conway and the special people at Pruitt Hospice for taking special care of our mother.

     A funeral service was planned for 3 p.m. Friday, April 10, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel. Private entombment services were planned.

     Family planned to receive friends during the two hours preceding the service at the funeral home.
