Berry Eugene Porter, Sr.: Winnabow

1949 – 2026

     Berry Eugene Porter, Sr. of Winnabow passed away on Thursday, April 9, in Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. He was 77.

     Born Feb. 21, 1949 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Grover Lee Porter and Ethel Ward Porter.

     He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

     He is survived by two sons, Chris Porter and Berry Eugene Porter II of Winnabow; one daughter, Genna Alicia Porter of Wilmington; a brother, Charles Dean Porter of Wilmington; one sister, Bonnie Gore of Tabor City; and two grandchildren.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Gibson Porter; and one brother, Keith Porter.

     A graveside service was planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, in the Norris Cemetery, Tabor City.

     Family planned to receive friends following the service in the cemetery.
